Music Section
Music is one of the most vibrant and noble branches of art.
From the dawn of creation until today, humanity has reflected its solitude, concerns, and aspirations through sound, voice, melody, imagery, and artistic expression. Our great spiritual scholars consider the universe to be entirely composed of sound, with the foundation of existence resting upon it.
As the great poet Bedil says:
“O minstrel, now is the time for fervor and melody,
For the foundation of existence rests upon sound.”
Another sage has said: “If the universe were to speak, it would begin with music…”
In the spiritual worldview, all of creation is word and speech, and the entirety of the universe resonates with sound and melody—sounds which we may seldom, if ever, hear with our physical ears. To perceive them requires another kind of ear and a higher form of awareness.
As Rumi of Balkh says:
“Leave the donkey’s ear, and seek another ear.”
The Necessity of Teaching, Promoting, and Expanding Classical Music
Our classical music not only carries profound spiritual and religious depth, but is also rooted in intellectual and ethical foundations. For this reason, its preservation, promotion, and expansion are felt to be of utmost importance.
